This installation of TCS T1 Decoder is for HO Scale Marklin 3003 and was performed by Bruce Trimble, NC.
The pictures above show beautiful Marklin 3003 with its shell on. TCS T1 Decoder will be installed in this engine.
The screw on the sand box on the boiler of the engine must be removed to take off its casing. The picture above shows the locomotive chassis with the shell removed. You could see the TCS T-Series Harness being used.
Here is the close-up of the motor where you can clearly see the orange and gray wire assembly.
This picture shows the black power pick-up wire placement.
12V Bulb is being used for this installation. Bulbs are not directional (have no polarity) so it does not matter where the blue and white wire are attached to.
The red motor power pick-up is connected to the middle rail under the locomotive chassis. See the picture below for more details.
Here is the picture of the middle rail - red power pick up.
Some beautiful details on this German locomotive.
Plug the T1 decoder as shown above.
Important Soldering Tip
Please do not use any flux either liquid or paste on the mother board. It will damage it. Use only Rosin core solder approved for electronics use.
We recommend to use only Kester "44" rosin core, SN63PB37, .015" diameter, part number 24-6337-0007.
This can be ordered from Techni-Tool under Techni-Tool part number 488SO157
Other solder tips
When stripping wire, only strip a tiny little bit of the insulation. Strip no more then a 1/64 of an inch. When the wire gets tinned with solder, the insulation will shrink back more. Try to not expose any more wire then half the length of the solder pad at most. In no case should solder or exposed wire wire ever be outside the boundary of the the solder pad you are attaching a wire to.
